This is an unforgettable community based and cultural
experience with a great opportunity to make a difference in the local Balinese
community by working in a school or orphanage program.
Students have
the opportunity to expand their horizons, learn new skills and develop as
global citizens. Our programs focus on students uplifting lives in a village
community as well as experiencing the beauty and richness of the culture
themselves. Our programs uphold the globally acclaimed standards of the International
Baccalaureate and other similar educational curricular. Trips can be modified
to suit the individual needs and interests of each group. Students will be
directly involved in decision making both in planning and during the trip
leading to positive outcomes.
Week day mornings students will have the opportunity
to work in a local school or orphanage on specific projects such as teaching
skills eg sport, games, computer or development eg painting or gardening
projects. This interaction will directly impact the lives of children and
families in the local community.
In the afternoons students will be involved in many
cultural experiences such as cooking, instrument making, cultural dances and
visiting local villages and markets. A visit to the local dog refuge centre is
also included. They will also be able to experience some of Bali’s beautiful
sights such as The Monkey Forest in Ubud, Kintamani Volcano and a boat trip to
Turtle Island.
The evenings will involve cultural feasts and dances,
relaxing and star gazing.
Accomodation is in THE GRAND BALI NUSA DUA which is
situated only 5 minutes drive from the local primary school which is SD NO 7
NUSA DUA. The hotel is located on the hillside and blends Bali’s rich cultural
heritage with modern comforts.
Peter Evans is the director ofTravel TWI and coordinates the programs. He
has had many years of experience travelling around the world and in Indonesia.
He has also taken many similar service and cultural trips to South Africa where
students have uplifted lives in rural communities, working in schools and
orphanages. Peter has also been a high school teacher with 22 years experience.
